Mobility Wet Room Installation | Doncaster | More Ability
Published: 16 April 2026
Background
Based in Doncaster, Ms Fretwell contacted More Ability looking to improve the safety and accessibility of her existing bathroom. The room originally featured a traditional bath, pedestal basin and WC, which had become increasingly difficult to use comfortably and safely.
Stepping in and out of the bath presented a particular challenge, limiting ease of use and reducing confidence when bathing. Ms Fretwell wanted a more practical, future-proofed solution, leading her to explore a mobility wet room that would better support her day-to-day independence.
Mobility Wet Room Design
Adaptation Surveyor Kenny carried out a full assessment of the space, taking into account Ms Fretwell’s current and future mobility needs. It was clear that a complete wet room adaptation would provide the safest and most effective solution.
The design focused on removing the bath and transforming the room into a fully level access mobility wet room, eliminating any steps and significantly reducing the risk of slips or falls.

The existing WC was replaced with a comfort height WC, improving ease of use and accessibility. To maximise available space, the original pedestal basin was upgraded to a narrower, space-saving basin with pedestal, allowing for better movement within the room.

Finished with Portland beige marble effect wall boards, the new design balanced practicality with a clean, modern aesthetic, demonstrating how a wet room design and fit can be both functional and stylish.
Wet Room Features & Accessibility
The newly designed and installed wet room was built with safety, comfort and durability at its core. The entire space was fully tanked and waterproofed before being finished with ocean blue anti-slip vinyl flooring, providing a secure surface underfoot in all conditions.
Within the shower area, grab rails were installed to offer additional support and stability, helping Ms Fretwell move with confidence. A foldable shower seat was also included, allowing for comfortable seated showering while maintaining flexibility of space.

To subtly define the showering zone, a glass flipper screen with black trim was installed. This not only helps control water flow but also enhances the overall aesthetic of the room, adding a modern, high-end finish.
A large black towel radiator was fitted to complement the black detailing, bringing both warmth and a stylish contrast to the softer tones of the wall boards. New lighting and an extractor fan were also installed, improving visibility and ventilation throughout the space.

Wet Room Installation
The project was completed by Multi-Skilled Fitter Steve, who carried out the full wet room design and fit with precision and attention to detail.
From removing the existing suite to installing the new wet room system and finishing elements, Steve ensured the entire installation was completed to a high standard. He worked considerately within the home, maintaining a clean and organised workspace and minimising disruption wherever possible.
His professional and respectful approach ensured Ms Fretwell felt supported throughout the process, reflecting More Ability’s commitment to delivering high-quality wet rooms designed and installed with care and consideration, reflecting some of the reasons many of our customers choose us.
The Finished Mobility Wet Room in Doncaster
The completed mobility wet room has transformed the bathroom into a safe, practical and stylish space that fully supports Ms Fretwell’s needs.
By removing the bath and introducing a level access shower, the room is now far easier to use on a daily basis. Accessibility features such as grab rails and the foldable shower seat provide added confidence, while the anti-slip flooring ensures safety underfoot.
Visually, the combination of Portland beige marble effect wall boards, ocean blue flooring and black fixtures creates a modern, cohesive finish. The glass flipper screen keeps the room feeling open, while still providing effective water containment.
This mobility wet room successfully balances independence, safety and design, creating a space that is both functional and welcoming.
